As you turn into the drive and make your way to the complex, you begin to wonder what you are about to experience. And as you turn the final corner you realise that Old Thorns offers so much more than just a golf course and a Hotel. Old Thorns is a Championship Course built over 25 years ago by Dave Thomas and Peter Alliss. The course was opened in 1981, and the first 4 ball to play was Isao Aoki, Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus and Bill Rogers. As testament to the challenge this course presents, the lowest gross score of the day was 69 by Isao Aoki. This picturesque parkland course combines rolling hills and lightening fast greens with plenty of in course water.
The PGA approved proshop stocks a wide range of golfing merchandise for golfers of all abilities. Buggies, trolleys, clubs and shoes are all available to hire. If you do need to brush up on your game, our golf professional is able to offer tuition on our practice facilities, which include driving range, chipping area and putting green.
